Attraction Overview
Set just off Alnwick Market Place on Paikes Street, The Cheese Room focuses on North East producers alongside classic continental wheels. Counters are arranged for tasting and advice, with staff helping you choose by style, age and strength. Fresh bread, crackers and chutneys are stocked for takeout picnics, and there is a small sit-in space for simple boards. The shop was refurbished in 2025 and continues to expand its range with local makers. You will also find Northumbrian drinks on the shelves, including mead and small-batch ales.Cheeseboards can be made to order for Alnwick Castle and Garden picnics or for the coastal run to Alnmouth. Gift selections are wrapped on site, and seasonal specials are listed on the board near the counter. The location is easy to find between the Market Place and Bondgate Within, so it works well as a short stop during a town walk.
Be sure to explore...
- Northumberland Nettle, a creamy local cheddar with specks of stinging nettle leaves.
- Doddington Dairy’s Ad Gefrin, a hard, nutty cheese made nearby on the Cheviot Hills.
- Ribblesdale Goat, a smooth and mellow Yorkshire goat’s cheese.
