Attraction Overview

Set within the remains of the Llywernog Silver-Lead Mine, The Silver Mountain Experience offers a glimpse into 18th and 19th-century Welsh mining life. Built in the 1700s and once a working industrial site, the mine was a major hub during the region’s silver rush. Today, you can take a guided tour through original underground tunnels and restored buildings, exploring how ore was mined, processed and hauled by hand.

Beyond the historical tour, the site blends local folklore with immersive storytelling, from the family-friendly Dragon’s Tale to the darker Black Chasm experience. There are also walking trails, heritage exhibits and escape rooms for older visitors.

Be sure to explore...

  • The underground mine tour, which shows the cramped, dangerous work once done by hand.
  • A Dragon’s Tale, where younger visitors follow clues to discover a mythical Welsh creature.
  • The Black Chasm experience - a darker, immersive route into mining superstitions and ghost stories.
  • Original surface buildings including the ore crusher and waterwheel.
  • Escape rooms, run by Ultimate Xscape, including the high-stakes Diamond Heist challenge.
