First Tower has its roots in the late 18th century when a defensive tower was constructed as part of a coastal defense network against French invasions. This granite tower, built around 1778, was one of many Martello towers erected to protect the island’s coastline. Over time, the area surrounding the tower developed into a suburb named after this historical structure.

Today, the First Tower is a blend of historical and modern elements. The original granite tower stands as a testament to Jersey’s military past, characterized by its sturdy, cylindrical form with small windows and a flat roof. Surrounding the tower is a bustling residential area with a mix of contemporary and traditional buildings. The beachfront nearby offers picturesque views of St. Aubin’s Bay, featuring sandy shores and clear waters. The area is dotted with amenities like shops, schools, and recreational facilities, contributing to its vibrant community atmosphere.
