Attraction Overview

Opened in 1845, The Oval has hosted England’s first Test match, the inaugural FA Cup final and the Ashes series. It was also an early home of English football, hosting the first ever England international on home soil in 1873, and the FA Cup final for 20 consecutive years. A 90-minute guided tour takes you behind the scenes from the dressing rooms and committee rooms to the Members’ Pavilion and media suites, with panoramic views from the JM Finn and MAR Galadari stands. Each guide shares stories of sporting milestones, club legends and the famous gas-holder that still towers beyond the boundary.

Surrey County Cricket Club also still play here, with regular County Championship matches, one-day games and fast-paced T20 fixtures across the summer. You can grab a ticket, take your seat in the stands and watch it all unfold on the same turf cricketing history has been made for nearly two centuries.

Be sure to explore...
