Attraction Overview
Founded as a wooden motte-and-bailey by William the Conqueror around 1068, Warwick Castle was rebuilt in stone during the 12th and 14th centuries into the strategic stronghold it remains today. Its high curtain walls and round towers once repelled attackers and reinforced feudal power. Inside, you can walk through rooms like the Great Hall and Caesar’s Tower, each packed with carved woodwork, portraits and centuries of history. The castle also features dramatic live-action shows - jousting tournaments, falconry displays and the Thunderous Trebuchet launch. The theatrical Castle Dungeon offers a darker, immersive experience through local ghost stories and medieval punishments.
Be sure to explore...
- Great Hall and State Rooms, where carved fireplaces and portraits reflect the home of medieval earls.
- Caesar’s Tower and ramparts, climb for archer’s views across the town and river.
- Castle Dungeon, an immersive theatrical experience with live actors.
- Falconer’s Quest show, featuring eagles, vultures and falcons swooping close overhead.
- hunderous Trebuchet demonstration—a reconstructed siege engine firing.
