Pensarn Beach

Pensarn Beach stretches along the north Wales coast just below the town of Abergele, sitting between Abergele and Llanddulas on the wide sweep of Colwyn Bay. The beach is a long ribbon of shingle backed by pebbles, giving way to firm sand at lower tides, with views across the Irish Sea and, on clear days, towards the Great Orme headland to the west.

It is a notably quieter alternative to nearby Rhyl and Colwyn Bay, popular with sea anglers, dog walkers and families looking for an unfussy stretch of coast. The North Wales Coast Path runs directly behind the beach, sharing its route with the long-distance Wales Coast Path and a paved cycleway that links Prestatyn with Llandudno. Pensarn railway station sits immediately behind the beach, making it one of the most easily reached pieces of coast in the area by public transport.

A small parade of cafes, a chip shop and the Pensarn Beach inn cluster near the level crossing, and the surrounding area is dotted with caravan parks. The headland at Llanddulas, with its working stone jetty, marks the western end of the beach.
