About this attraction

About Loggerheads Country Park, near Mold

Loggerheads Country Park sits in the Clwydian Hills roughly 5 miles north of Mold, offering 260 acres of mixed woodland, grassland and riverside walks. The park straddles the River Alyn as it flows through a wooded valley, with trails of varying difficulty threading through mature woodland and emerging onto open hillside with views across the region. The village of Loggerheads itself, whose name probably derives from medieval inn signs rather than anything more colourful, sits at the heart of the park and gives access to the main car park and visitor facilities.

This is primarily a walking destination. You can follow the river for gentler riverside strolls, climb up to Moel Famau (the highest point in the Clwydian Range at 554 metres), or simply wander the mid-level woodland paths. The park is open year-round and free to enter. The landscape is particularly pleasant in autumn when the beech and oak woodland turns colour, though it offers something rewarding in all seasons. There's a visitor centre and café near the car park, and the area is popular with dog walkers and local families.
