Llandudno Cable Cars

The Llandudno Cable Car carries visitors from Happy Valley Gardens above the town's North Shore promenade up to the summit of the Great Orme, the dramatic limestone headland that towers over the Victorian seaside resort. At just over a mile in length, it is generally described as the longest single-stage cable car ride in Britain, with small four-seat gondolas drifting slowly over the slopes for around fifteen minutes in each direction.

The ride gives spectacular open views across Llandudno Bay, the Conwy estuary, the Carneddau mountains of Snowdonia and, on a clear day, as far as the Isle of Man and the Lake District. The cars pass low over the rocky pastures of the Orme, where the famous Kashmiri feral goats and sheep often graze beneath the line.

At the top, a summit complex includes a cafe, gift shop, the Great Orme Country Park visitor centre and easy access to the Bronze Age copper mines, the Victorian tramway terminus and miles of clifftop walking. The cable car typically operates from late spring through the summer season and is weather dependent, with strong winds occasionally suspending the service. It remains one of the most distinctive ways to experience the North Wales coast.
