About County Square Shopping Centre, Ashford
County Square is Ashford's principal covered shopping centre, occupying a large site between the High Street and the international railway station. The centre opened in the 1970s and was substantially extended and remodelled in 2008, doubling its floorspace and adding an upper level of stores.
Inside you'll find a mix of national high-street names covering fashion, health and beauty, homewares, electronics and phones, along with cafés and casual eating options. Anchor stores include some of the larger chains, and there is a multi-storey car park attached.
County Square is a practical stop rather than a destination in itself, but its location makes it useful: Ashford International station is a short walk to the north, the town's historic core around the Church of St Mary the Virgin is a few minutes to the south, and buses to Tenterden and the surrounding villages stop nearby.
