About Colwyn Bay Beach
Colwyn Bay Beach stretches for several miles along the north Wales coast, forming a broad arc of golden sand backed by a wide promenade. A multi-million pound regeneration scheme has transformed the seafront, importing fresh sand to widen the beach, building new rock breakwaters, and creating the striking Porth Eirias watersports centre at its western end.
The beach is family friendly with shallow waters, ideal for paddling and beachcombing at low tide. Visitors can hire paddleboards and sailing dinghies from Porth Eirias, walk or cycle the Wales Coast Path that runs the length of the promenade, or simply enjoy the views across the bay towards the Little Orme and Rhos-on-Sea.
Behind the beach, the Victorian resort town of Colwyn Bay offers cafes, ice-cream kiosks, and the Bryn Euryn nature reserve a short walk inland. The seafront connects directly to Rhos-on-Sea to the west and Old Colwyn to the east, making it a natural focal point for a day exploring this stretch of the north Wales coast.
