Perth Racecourse

Perth Racecourse is one of Scotland's most picturesque sporting venues, laid out within the historic parkland of Scone Palace on the northern edge of the city. It is the most northerly racecourse in Britain and stages National Hunt racing only, with a calendar of fixtures running between April and September that includes the popular three-day Perth Festival in spring.

The track itself is a right-handed jumps course of around a mile and a quarter, flat, fair and well drained thanks to its position on free-draining soils beside the River Tay. Its compact grandstands and timber-framed enclosures give the meetings an intimate, country feel that contrasts with the larger English jumps courses, and the backdrop of mature trees and the Scone estate is a significant part of the appeal.

Racing has taken place in the Perth area since the 18th century, with the current course at Scone established in 1908. Beyond the racing, the venue hosts conferences and weddings, and ticket holders on race days often combine a visit with a wander into Perth itself or a tour of neighbouring Scone Palace, the historic crowning place of the Kings of Scots.
