Broadford Market Square

Broadford Market Square sits at the heart of Broadford, the second largest settlement on the Isle of Skye and a natural stopping point for anyone travelling north from the Skye Bridge at Kyleakin. The square has been redeveloped in recent years and now functions as a small civic space ringed by independent shops, cafés, a community hall and information boards explaining the geology and wildlife of the surrounding area.

The square is a good base for exploring the village itself, which strings along the shore of Broadford Bay with views across to the islands of Pabay, Scalpay and the mainland mountains beyond. Within a short walk visitors will find the Skye Serpentarium, harbour pontoons and shingle beaches, while the looming bulk of Beinn na Caillich rises directly behind the village to over 730 metres.

Practical facilities cluster around the square, including the main bus stop on the Citylink Inverness to Portree route, a 24-hour Co-op, a chemist and the Broadford and Strath Community Company hub. It makes a useful waypoint for walkers heading to the Red Hills, paddlers exploring Loch na Cairidh, or drivers continuing north to Portree and the Trotternish peninsula.
