Ben Vorlich, St Fillans

Ben Vorlich is a prominent peak on the eastern side of Loch Earn, one of the most recognisable summits in Perthshire with its steep north face visible from the lochside. At 985 metres, it is popular with hill-walkers of moderate experience and forms part of the Southern Highlands landscape that attracts visitors to the region.

The main approach starts from the car park near St Fillans at the eastern end of Loch Earn. The ascent follows a well-marked path up the north ridge, taking roughly 2 to 3 hours to the summit depending on fitness and pace. The walk offers changing views across the loch and surrounding glens, with the summit rewarding climbers with sight lines across to Ben An (Trossachs), Ben Ledi, and down the breadth of Perthshire.

The mountain sits within easy reach of Crieff and St Fillans, making it accessible as a half-day or full-day outing for visitors exploring the Strathearn and Trossachs region. In clear weather, the summit views extend to the Highlands proper; in poorer conditions, the walk remains rewarding for those who enjoy moorland and mountain scenery.
