Skegness Pier

Skegness Pier juts out from the resort's wide sandy beach on Grand Parade, forming one of the most recognisable landmarks on the Lincolnshire coast. The original pier opened in 1881 as a graceful Victorian promenade stretching far out into the Wash, but a series of storms and a ship collision in 1978 reduced its length dramatically. What remains today has been thoroughly modernised into a busy indoor and outdoor entertainment complex.

Inside, visitors find a large amusement arcade with classic 2p machines, ticket redemption games and the latest video attractions, alongside a ten-pin bowling alley, soft play area, laser tag and a small adventure golf course. Food outlets include a fish and chip shop, ice cream counters and a bar overlooking the sea. The pier head offers fresh air, big skies and views back across the promenade towards the Clock Tower and Jolly Fisherman statue.

It sits at the heart of Skegness's traditional bucket-and-spade seafront, a short walk from Tower Gardens, the beach donkey rides and the resort's other classic attractions. For many families, a stop on the pier is a fixed part of any day trip to Skeggy.
