About Hilltop Animal Sanctuary
Hilltop Animal Sanctuary is a registered animal welfare charity based in the rolling countryside of Lincolnshire, taking in horses, ponies, donkeys, pigs, sheep, goats and smaller companion animals that have been abandoned, neglected or surrendered. The site combines stables, paddocks and small-animal areas spread across a working rescue holding, with a visitor area for those who want to meet the residents and support the sanctuary's work.
A visit is informal and family-friendly. Walkways lead between the paddocks so children can see the rescued ponies and donkeys at close quarters, and there are usually rabbits, guinea pigs and poultry in the smaller pens. Volunteers and staff are on hand to share each animal's story, explaining how they came to the sanctuary and the rehabilitation work that follows. There is a small refreshment area and shop, with proceeds going directly back into feed, veterinary care and stable upkeep.
The sanctuary depends heavily on public donations, sponsorship and adoption schemes, and many visitors come away having sponsored a particular animal. Set in open Lincolnshire farmland, it makes a gentle half-day out, especially for younger children, and a tangible way to support hands-on rescue work in the county.
