Ludborough Station Heritage Centre

Ludborough Station is the headquarters and main visitor centre of the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway, a volunteer-run heritage line that has lovingly restored part of the former Great Northern Railway route between Grimsby and Louth. The station, which originally closed to passengers in 1961, has been brought back to life as a working museum, complete with restored platform buildings, signal box, signal cabin display, traditional waiting room and a small shop and cafe.

Visitors can ride steam and diesel-hauled trains along the line through gently rolling Wolds countryside, with services operating on selected weekends and during themed events throughout the year. The site also houses an expanding collection of locomotives, carriages and goods wagons under restoration, and on running days passengers are welcome to look around the engine shed and chat to the volunteers who keep it all going.

Special events such as 1940s weekends, Santa specials, gala days and family activity days add to the appeal, making Ludborough a popular outing for railway enthusiasts and families alike. The station sits just off the A16 between Louth and Grimsby, in quiet countryside that gives the journey an authentic rural branch-line feel.
