Skegness Butlins Holiday Park

Butlin's Skegness is the original Butlin's holiday camp, opened by Billy Butlin on 11 April 1936 at Ingoldmells, just up the coast from Skegness itself. It was the first purpose-built holiday camp in Britain and went on to define a particular style of seaside holiday, with chalets, full-board meals, organised entertainment and the famous Redcoats welcoming guests. Today it is still one of the largest holiday resorts in the country, set on a coastal site of around 300 acres facing a long sandy beach.

The modern resort centres on the giant Skyline Pavilion, a tented covered area housing fairground rides, soft play, arcades and family shows, alongside swimming pools at the Splash Waterworld complex. Live entertainment runs throughout the day and into the evening, from traditional Redcoat-led shows to big-name comedians, tribute acts and the resort's well-known music weekends covering soul, ska, rock and pop.

Accommodation ranges from budget rooms to seaside apartments, and there are dozens of bars and restaurants on site. Although the resort is largely self-contained, the Coastliner bus and seasonal services link Ingoldmells with central Skegness, Fantasy Island and Chapel St Leonards, making it easy to combine a stay with traditional resort attractions along the Lincolnshire coast.
