Skegness Aquarium

Skegness Aquarium is a family-friendly attraction on Grand Parade, right opposite the pier and the main seafront. Opened in 2015, it occupies the former Skegness Marine Zoo site and offers a compact but varied journey through aquatic habitats from local Lincolnshire waters to tropical reefs and Amazon rivers. It is one of the few sizeable aquariums on this stretch of the east coast, making it a popular wet-weather option for day-trippers and holidaymakers.

Themed zones lead visitors past displays of British rockpool species, seahorses and rays in the cold-water galleries, then on through tropical tanks filled with clownfish, lionfish and corals. A walk-through ocean tunnel brings guests face-to-face with reef sharks and shoals of brightly coloured fish, while jungle-themed sections house freshwater species, terrapins and reptiles. Daily talks and feeding sessions give the team a chance to explain conservation work and the biology of the animals.

The aquarium sits within easy walking distance of Skegness railway station, the Clock Tower and Compass Gardens, so it slots naturally into a day combining the beach, pier and town centre. A gift shop and small cafe round off the visit.
