About Natureland Seal Sanctuary
Natureland Seal Sanctuary stands at the northern end of Skegness seafront, a Lincolnshire institution that has been rescuing and rehabilitating orphaned and injured seal pups from the Wash and the wider east coast since 1965. Pups brought in each winter are nursed back to health in dedicated hospital pools before being released back to the sea, and visitors can watch this work in progress alongside the sanctuary's permanent residents.
As well as the rescued common and grey seals, the site is home to Humboldt penguins, tropical butterflies in a heated free-flight house, reptiles, meerkats, goats and aquariums of native British fish. Daily seal and penguin feeding talks are the highlight for many families, giving keepers the chance to explain the rescue programme and the threats facing seals around the British coast.
Natureland is a short walk from Skegness pier and the main beach, making it an easy addition to a traditional seaside day out. The sanctuary is compact enough to enjoy in a couple of hours and is well suited to younger children.
