Mablethorpe seaside town

Mablethorpe is a classic English seaside resort on the Lincolnshire coast, fronted by a broad sweep of golden sand that runs uninterrupted north to Theddlethorpe and south to Sutton-on-Sea. The main beach has long held a reputation for cleanliness and gentle bathing, and the sheltered dunes behind the promenade form part of a fragile coastal nature reserve managed for natterjack toads, sea buckthorn and migrant birds.

Along the seafront visitors find the familiar mix of a British holiday town: amusement arcades, fish and chip shops, ice cream kiosks, donkey rides in summer and the modest Queens Park boating lake. Family-focused attractions include the Mablethorpe Seal Sanctuary and Wildlife Centre, the seafront pleasure park with its rides and crazy golf, and a network of accessible promenades for cycling and walking.

The town has a long history as a working-class holiday destination for the East Midlands, and that unpretentious character endures. Out of season, the empty beaches and big Lincolnshire skies attract walkers, kite-flyers and sand-yachters who use the firm flat sands of low tide.
