Blackpool Sealife Centre

The Blackpool Sealife Centre sits right on the Promenade between the Tower and Central Pier, offering an indoor aquarium experience that has been a fixture of the resort's family attractions for decades. Visitors follow a winding route through a series of themed zones that progress from local rockpools and British coastal waters out to tropical reefs and the deep ocean.

The undoubted highlight is the walk-through ocean tunnel, where blacktip reef sharks, rays and shoals of brightly coloured fish glide overhead. Other displays include seahorses, clownfish, jellyfish, a touchpool where children can meet starfish and shore crabs under supervision, and Europe's largest tropical shark breeding programme, which has helped to make the centre a serious conservation player as well as a day-out destination.

Regular feeding talks and diver demonstrations run throughout the day, and the route is fully indoors, making it an ideal choice for a wet Blackpool afternoon. Located on the seafront close to the tram stop at Tower, it slots easily into a wider visit taking in Blackpool Tower, the Comedy Carpet and the piers.
