About this attraction

About Sutton Fen RSPB Reserve

Sutton Fen is an RSPB-managed nature reserve within the Norfolk Broads system, dedicated to protecting and restoring wetland habitat. The reserve comprises reedbed, shallow water, and wet grassland that support a rich variety of birdlife. The habitat and species found here reflect what the wider Broads ecosystem supports when it is managed well for wildlife.

The reserve is accessible to visitors and offers good opportunities for birdwatching and nature observation. You can expect to see water birds like great crested grebes and tufted ducks, waders such as redshanks and snipe, and during spring and autumn migration, a wider variety of passage migrants. Reedbed specialists including bearded reedlings and marsh harriers are also regular residents. The reserve has viewing points and paths that allow you to move through the habitat without disturbing birds. It's a peaceful place to spend a couple of hours watching wildlife and understanding how reedbed and wetland management work in practice. The RSPB provides information on species to look for and best times to visit.
