Seaton Tramway

The Seaton Tramway is a charming narrow-gauge electric heritage railway that has operated since 1970, recreating the experience of the original Victorian electric tramway that once connected Seaton to Colyton. The line runs for three miles along the valley of the River Axe, passing through the small village of Colyford, and is worked entirely by enthusiast volunteers.

Visitors can board restored vintage trams at Seaton station (close to the seafront) for a scenic journey lasting approximately 45 minutes each way. The route passes through peaceful countryside, offering views of the river and surrounding farmland. The tramway is particularly popular during the summer months and operates daily services, with special events and diesel train rides offered at various times of year. At Colyton, the terminus sits near the historic village centre, allowing visitors to explore the town or enjoy refreshments at the station cafe.

The line is an important piece of local heritage, preserving engineering skills and offering a unique mode of transport to explore the Axe Valley. The tramway is fully accessible and family-friendly, making it suitable for visitors of all abilities.
