About Ramsgate Royal Harbour
Ramsgate Royal Harbour is a working port and one of the few harbours in Britain to hold the 'Royal' title, granted because it was used as a refuge by the royal yacht in the 18th century. The harbour is home to fishing boats and leisure yachts, making it a working maritime space. The waterfront is lined with restaurants, cafes and bars with views over the water, and there are several maritime heritage attractions nearby including the Ramsgate Maritime Museum and the RNLI lifeboat station.
The distinctive Victorian clocktower stands at the entrance to the harbour and is a focal point of the seafront. The promenade along the harbour is popular for walking and sitting, especially on sunny days. The area connects to the wider Ramsgate seafront and town centre, and there is ample parking available nearby. The harbour also serves as a working fishing port, so you may see boats coming and going depending on the time of day and weather.
