About Millstone Museum of Living History

The Millstone Museum of Living History is a small independent museum near Andover in Hampshire dedicated to the rural and agricultural past of the surrounding chalk downland. Its collections focus on the everyday tools, machinery and trades that shaped village life across central Hampshire from the Victorian era to the mid twentieth century.

Visitors will find restored tractors, ploughs and harvesting equipment alongside displays on the village blacksmith, wheelwright, dairy and domestic kitchen. As a "living history" museum, items are presented in working order wherever possible, with demonstration days giving children and adults a chance to see threshing, milling and craft skills in action. Photographs and oral histories from local farming families add a personal dimension to the larger exhibits.

The museum sits within easy reach of Andover and the Test Valley, an area long associated with watercress beds, sheep farming and country estates. It makes a worthwhile stop alongside other Hampshire heritage attractions such as Whitchurch Silk Mill and the Bombay Sapphire Distillery at Laverstoke.
