King's Lynn

King's Lynn is a substantial market town and former major port situated where the Great Ouse river widens towards the Wash. The town grew wealthy through medieval wool and cloth trade, and later as a port for coal, timber, and grain. Today it retains extensive evidence of that prosperity: you'll find medieval town walls, a well-preserved town centre with Georgian and Victorian buildings, and a working waterfront that still serves small vessels.
