About Carrick-on-Shannon Golf Club
Carrick-on-Shannon Golf Club is a long-established parkland course set in the rolling countryside of County Leitrim, just outside the lively riverside town of Carrick-on-Shannon. Founded in the late nineteenth century, it is one of the older clubs in the north-west of Ireland and has grown from a modest nine-hole layout into a full eighteen-hole course that takes advantage of the gentle drumlin landscape characteristic of this part of the Shannon basin.
The course winds through mature woodland, open meadow and stretches of natural water hazard, with views across to the Leitrim hills. Tree-lined fairways, well-kept greens and a mix of doglegs and longer par fours make it a rewarding round for visitors of mixed ability. The clubhouse provides a friendly base for a drink or a meal after play, and green-fee visitors are welcomed throughout most of the year.
The club sits a short drive from the centre of Carrick-on-Shannon, a popular boating town on the upper Shannon. Many golfers combine a round here with a river cruise, a visit to the Costello Memorial Chapel or a meal in one of the town's quayside restaurants, making it a natural stop on a wider Leitrim itinerary.
