Vivienne Westwood: Rebel - Storyteller - Visionary at The Bowes Museum

28 Mar – 5 Sept 2026 Β· Barnard Castle

About this event

About Vivienne Westwood: Rebel - Storyteller - Visionary (28 March 2026 – 6 September 2026) is a multi-gallery exhibition honouring one of fashion's most provocative and imaginative designers. Spanning the early 1980s to 2000s, it charts Westwood's journey following her punk rebellion with Malcolm McLaren to her reinvention of historical dress and couture. Featuring rarely seen pieces from private collections, the exhibition offers an unprecedented glimpse into Westwood's artistry. Calico toiles, deconstructed garments and complete ensembles are displayed chronologically alongside historic objects from The Bowes Museum's collection, making this its most expansive showcase of Westwood to date, a fusion of rebellion with tradition.
