About Queens Park
Queens Park is the principal green space at the heart of Loughborough, a short walk from the town centre and railway station. Laid out in the Victorian era and refined over the twentieth century, the park combines formal lawns, mature trees, ornamental bedding and an attractive boating lake. It functions as both a quiet retreat from the busy market town around it and a focal point for civic events.
Within the grounds visitors will find the Carillon Tower, a striking war memorial whose 47 bells make it one of the first true carillons in Britain. The tower houses a small military museum on its lower floors and is a recognised landmark on the Loughborough skyline. Nearby are the Charnwood Museum, a bandstand used for summer concerts, an aviary and a children's play area, making the park a popular family destination.
Pleasant paths loop around the lake and through the planted borders, with benches set under the trees and a café serving refreshments in the warmer months. The park is easily reached on foot from Loughborough's bus and rail interchanges, and it offers a sociable, characterful introduction to the town for anyone arriving by public transport.
