About this walk
This easy circular walk of 3.1 km loops through the woodland and parkland surrounding Basildon Park, a National Trust estate tucked into the rolling countryside of West Berkshire. Starting and finishing at Basildon, the route rises and falls gently, with a total ascent of around 86 m, making it a comfortable outing for most walkers in about 45 minutes.
The path winds beneath mature trees and along quiet parkland edges, with glimpses of the wider estate as you go. At the midway point you pass back through the Basildon area before the trail curves round to complete the loop, keeping the going straightforward throughout.
Back at the start, Basildon Park itself is well worth lingering over, and the National Trust Tea Rooms are on hand for a cup of tea and a slice of cake to round off the walk.
