About this walk
Starting near Wraxall and Failand, this gentle 2.2 km route heads into the Tyntesfield estate, one of the National Trust's most-loved properties in North Somerset. The path climbs steadily, with around 95 metres of ascent spread across the walk, so it feels easy underfoot without ever being flat.
You soon come within view of Tyntesfield House itself, a striking Victorian Gothic mansion set in wooded parkland. From here the route drifts past the Lower Gardens and skirts the fringes of Truckle Wood and Limekiln Plantation, with the Wraxall TV Repeater visible above the tree line as a useful landmark. It's a landscape of estate parkland, mature trees and quiet paths rather than open moorland.
The walk finishes at the Cow Barn Café, a welcome spot for tea and cake before you turn back or explore the wider gardens. At roughly 45 minutes each way, it's an ideal short outing for an afternoon, and easy to combine with a longer visit to the house and grounds.
