About this walk
This gentle circular route begins in the village of Magor with Undy on the Caldicot Level, one of the great sweeps of reclaimed coastal wetland that stretches along the northern shore of the Severn Estuary. With only around 21 metres of ascent across the entire loop, the walking is easy underfoot, though the 7.5 km distance and open, exposed character of the moors give it a moderate feel.
Setting out from Magor with Undy, the path leads out onto Caldicot Moor, a landscape defined by straight drainage channels known locally as reens, wide skies and grazing pasture. The route passes St Mary's Church before looping back through quiet lanes and field paths to the start. Expect big horizons, glimpses of the estuary edge and the distinctive patchwork of levels farmland.
Allow around 1 hour 45 minutes at a steady pace. The circular nature of the walk makes it a satisfying half-morning outing, especially for those arriving by public transport into the village.
