About this walk
This linear walk winds through the wooded estate of Tyntesfield in North Somerset, climbing steadily through mixed woodland to reach the ridge above Wraxall and Failand. At 3.5 km with 176 m of ascent, it packs a decent amount of climbing into an hour, so expect a gentle work-out on the uphill sections.
The route begins near the Kitchen Garden, where walled beds and glasshouses give a taste of the estate's productive heart, before drawing you past the striking silhouette of Tyntesfield House. The Cow Barn Café sits conveniently on the way, ideal for a coffee stop before you press on into the trees and head towards the finish at Wraxall and Failand.
Along the way there are glimpses of the wider estate landscape and its neighbouring features, including Truckle Wood and Limekiln Plantation, with the Wraxall TV Repeater a distant landmark on the skyline. It's a satisfying introduction to the woods and parkland that surround one of North Somerset's best-known country houses.
