About this walk
This short circular loop through the Tyntesfield estate offers a gentle introduction to the wooded sidelands that flank the main house, starting and finishing in the parish of Wraxall and Failand. From the trailhead the route heads past the Cow Barn Café, a welcome spot for refreshments at either end of the walk, before easing into the quieter margins of the estate.
The path climbs steadily through Truckle Wood, where the tree cover opens now and then to reveal glimpses across the North Somerset countryside. The Wraxall TV Repeater marks the higher ground on the route, a useful landmark before the trail loops back down through the sidelands. Along the way you can detour to take in Tyntesfield House itself, the Rose Garden and the Croquet Lawn, all set within the wider National Trust estate.
At just 2.4 km with a modest 116 m of ascent, it is an easy outing suitable for most walkers and a good way to sample the estate before tackling longer trails in the surrounding parkland.
