Ty'n y Coed Uchaf and Cwm Eidda walk, Ysbyty

This 8.1 km circular walk sets out from the hamlet of Ysbyty Ifan area in Conwy, weaving through quiet upland pasture and pockets of native woodland above the River Conwy. The route soon reaches the old Roman Bridge, a fine stone crossing that gives the walk its early highlight, before climbing gently alongside Nant Caddugan.

From the stream, field paths lead past the traditional Welsh farmsteads of Ffridd-wen and Bryneithin, both set among hedgerows and rough grazing typical of this corner of Conwy. There are open views across the valley, with Coed-y-ffynnon woodland visible on the slopes and the historic smallholding of Ty'n-y-coed-uchaf tucked into the landscape.

With around 348 m of ascent spread over the loop, the going is steady rather than strenuous, and most walkers will complete the circuit in about two and a half hours. Expect a mix of lanes, farm tracks and grassy paths, returning to the start through characterful hill country close to the upper reaches of the Conwy.
