About this walk
This 3.8 km link path forms part of the Stevenage Outer Orbital Path (STOOP), a network of walking routes circling the town and its rural fringes. Starting near Knebworth, the trail heads out through quiet Hertfordshire countryside towards Norton Green Pond, gaining a gentle 61 metres of ascent along the way.
The route sits within easy reach of Knebworth Country Park, whose grounds are a well-known local landmark, along with The Barns Restaurant and The Garden Terrace Tea Room for a pre or post-walk refuel. Burleighcroft Wood adds a pocket of woodland character close by, while the modern Gravity venue offers another option for rounding off the day.
As a linear route of around an hour, it works well as a one-way stretch of a longer STOOP circuit or as a gentle standalone outing. The going is straightforward and the gradients modest, making it accessible for most walkers looking for a manageable slice of the Hertfordshire countryside between Knebworth and Stevenage.
