Step Free Route, Tyntesfield

This gentle circular route through the Tyntesfield estate in North Somerset is designed to be accessible to all, following firm, level paths that loop around the grounds of one of the National Trust's most striking Victorian Gothic properties. At 2.5 km, it makes for an easy 45-minute stroll with plenty of reasons to pause along the way.

The walk takes in the ornamental Rose Garden, a fragrant highlight in summer, before leading past Tyntesfield House itself, whose spires and turrets rise dramatically above the surrounding parkland. You'll also pass the Cow Barn Café, a welcome stop for tea and cake in a converted farm building, with views out across the wider Tyntesfield estate.

Beyond the immediate grounds, the setting is framed by Truckle Wood and Tyntesfield Plantation, with the Wraxall TV Repeater a distant landmark on the skyline. Despite a modest 119 m of ascent spread across the loop, the route remains manageable and rewards walkers with a rounded taste of the estate's gardens, architecture and rural surroundings.
