About this walk
This 3.2 km loop climbs gently onto Sizergh Fell, a low limestone rise on the southern fringe of the Lake District. With just 93 metres of ascent and around 45 minutes of walking, it is a manageable outing that still rewards you with open views across the Kent valley and out towards the southern fells.
The highlight of the route is the Sizergh Cairns, set on the broad crown of the fell. From here paths thread through mixed woodland and pasture, with glimpses of the surrounding countryside near the hamlets of Heaves and Cotes. The circular layout means you return to your starting point without retracing your steps.
It is a good choice for a half-morning stretch, an after-lunch leg-loosener or an easy introduction to walking in this corner of Cumbria. The going is generally straightforward, and the modest distance makes it suitable for families and less experienced walkers looking for fresh air and a fine view.
