About this walk
The Sefton Coastal Path offers an easy linear walk of 5.3 km along the Merseyside coast, with just 69 metres of ascent making it a relaxed outing of around an hour and a quarter. The route threads through the dune landscape that defines this stretch of shoreline, where soft sandy paths and grassy hollows give way to wider views over the Irish Sea.
Along the way you pass close to Raven Meols Hill and Lark Hill, two of the higher points in the local dune system, which provide gentle vantage points across the surrounding coast. Inland, the spire of St Jerome's RC Church marks the nearby village, a useful landmark as you orient yourself between sea and settlement.
With no steep climbs and a well-trodden line through the dunes, this is a sociable walk suited to most abilities. It works well as a short half-day outing, and being linear it pairs neatly with local public transport at either end rather than requiring a return on foot.
