About this walk

Stage 4 of the Scenic Green Trail sets off from Mallards Way Park and heads out through St Nicholas towards the historic village of Otham, where weatherboarded cottages and Wealden timber-framed houses set the tone for the day. The route passes The White Horse before easing into open countryside on the edge of the village.

From here the path climbs gently through orchards and hedgerowed fields, with the occasional view back across the Len Valley. You drop into Belts Wood, a quiet pocket of mixed woodland, then continue south past Rosewood on field-edge tracks. Nearby you can detour to the National Trust's Stoneacre, the Quarry Wood Iron Age earthworks or the Old Spot Lane Nature Area.

The final stretch rises steadily onto the ragstone ridge that carries you into Boughton Monchelsea, where the walk finishes near The Holy Family Church. The Curious Eatery makes a welcome stop before catching onward transport. With 182 m of ascent spread across just under 10 km, it is a satisfying but manageable half-day outing.
