About this walk
Stage 2 of the Scenic Green Trail traces a gentle 8.6 km line through the Medway valley in the heart of Kent. Setting off near The Railway and Teston Lane, the path soon meets the River Medway, following its quiet banks downstream past meadows and willow-fringed water towards East Farleigh.
From the riverside, the route climbs gently into the trees of Bydews Woods, where shaded paths offer a cool contrast to the open water. Emerging on the edge of the village, you pass the Bridge Mill Way Play Area before finishing at The Royal Paper Mill, a fitting nod to the Medway's long industrial story.
With around 130 m of ascent spread over a steady two-hour walk, this is a moderate but rewarding stretch. Worthwhile detours nearby include the Ancient Parish Church of East Farleigh, Waregrave's Wood and the Wateringbury Playing Fields, while Tovil Scouts Chapel and Loose Boy Scouts sit a short way off the line for those keen to explore further.
