This short linear stroll begins and ends in the Cambridgeshire village of Barton, just south-west of Cambridge. Setting off from St Peter's Parish Church, the route eases through the village at a gentle pace, with only a modest rise in elevation across its two miles.
Along the way you can take in the peaceful Barton Village Pond and pass Barton Baptist Church, two quiet focal points of village life. Two traditional village pubs, The Hoops and The White Horse, sit close to the route and make natural spots to pause before or after the walk.
With an easy grade and a duration of around three quarters of an hour, this is an ideal introduction to the flat, open countryside that characterises this corner of Cambridgeshire. The finish back in Barton keeps things straightforward, and the village is well placed for a return by bus or a linked onward walk into the surrounding fields and lanes.
