River Walk at The Argory

This gentle circular walk at The Argory follows the wooded banks of the River Blackwater through the estate's quieter corners, an easy outing well suited to families and anyone after a relaxed hour outdoors.

From the start, the trail passes the Nature Play Area before winding out through the Centenary Oak Plantation, a stand of young oaks that will mature into a woodland for generations to come. The path continues via Clonteevy and Derrycaw, tracing the riverside with glimpses of the slow-moving Blackwater between the trees. Modest undulations, adding up to around 56 metres of ascent, keep the going interesting without ever becoming taxing.

Beyond the estate boundary, the wider landscape rolls away towards Derrycraw Hill and Mullens Hill, with the neighbouring Derrygally Demesne close by. At 2.9 km and around 45 minutes at a steady pace, it makes an ideal short leg-stretcher, or a peaceful add-on to a longer visit exploring the grounds.
