About this walk

This short and gentle stroll offers an easy half-hour on foot in the village of Riccall, in the Selby district of North Yorkshire. Setting off from Riccall Park, known locally as The Rec, the route heads out on level ground with barely a rise underfoot, making it well suited to families, casual walkers or anyone looking to stretch their legs between trains or buses.

At just 2 kilometres in length and following a linear line, the walk gives a friendly introduction to the village edge, with open recreation ground at the start and quiet lanes and green space to enjoy along the way. There are no strenuous climbs, no tricky navigation and no hurry, just a straightforward outing on the flat lowland that characterises this part of the Vale of York.

Because it is linear, you can either retrace your steps for a there-and-back of around 4 kilometres, or arrange onward transport at the far end. Either way, The Rec makes a natural meeting point to begin or end the day.
