About this walk
The Reelers Trail forms one of four themed loops making up the Witton Weavers Way, a network of paths through the moors and woodland west of Blackburn that take their names from the textile trades once central to Lancashire life. This 10.3 km linear section threads through quiet woodland and farmland on the fringes of the West Pennine Moors, with a steady 257 m of ascent making it a challenging half-day outing.
From the start, the route passes through Bensons Wood before reaching the Hare and Hounds, a handy waypoint and welcome refreshment stop. Beyond, the trail enters the conifers and mixed broadleaves of Roddlesworth Wood and Roddlesworth No 2 Plantation, where streams tumble through ferny gullies and the canopy keeps things cool even on warm days.
Nearby points of interest worth lingering over include the Feniscowles and Pleasington Memorial, Heald Wood, and Roddlesworth Nursery, while the Rock Inn offers another option for a sit-down at journey's end. Expect a mix of woodland tracks, field paths, and short climbs that reward you with glimpses across the surrounding Lancashire countryside.
