About this walk
The Red Circular Walk is a gentle 3 km loop through Shorne Woods Country Park, a pocket of ancient woodland and reclaimed parkland on the edge of the Kent Downs. At just under an hour and with only modest ascent, it makes an easy introduction to one of north Kent's most rewarding green spaces.
From the visitor area the route heads into the trees, passing the Arboretum with its mix of mature specimens before winding down to The Bogulons, a quieter corner of the park where the path threads between damp hollows and broadleaved cover. The trail then loops through Shorne Wood itself, with its mossy banks, coppiced stands and seasonal birdsong, before returning to the start.
If you have time to extend the day, neighbouring Brewers Wood lies close by, and the small hamlet of Thong sits a short stroll to the north. The waymarked red route is well signed throughout, making it a relaxed choice for a half-morning's wander or a leg-stretch on the way through Kent.
