About this walk

This linear rail trail links the suburb of Canley with the heart of Coventry, offering a gentle 4.5 km walk between the station and the city. Setting out from Canley, the route passes the Phantom Coach before dropping down to Canley Ford, a well-known local crossing point where the path threads through green space on the edge of the built-up area.

From there you climb gently past the intriguingly named Devil's Dungeon and continue towards the War Memorial, one of Coventry's most prominent landmarks. The trail then skirts Top Green Park before finishing at a point marked in honour of the poet Philip Larkin, who was born in the city.

Along the way and just off the line of the walk you'll find further reminders of Coventry's rich civic story, including tributes to cycling pioneer James Starley, novelist George Eliot and Tudor benefactor Sir Thomas White, plus quiet corners such as the Burnsall Road Community Wildlife Park and a Rose Garden if you want to extend the outing.
