About this walk
This gentle linear walk in the East Riding of Yorkshire covers around 3 miles from Kilnwick Percy to the village of Nunburnholme, following quiet ways through the rolling countryside on the western edge of the Yorkshire Wolds. Setting out near Kilnwick Percy, the route passes St James' Church before heading east across pasture and woodland fringes towards Nunburnholme.
Along the way you skirt a series of small landmarks that give the walk its character: Jenny Firkin Pond, the curiously named Flame Bushes, and a patch of scrubby ground known locally as the Wilderness. Further on, Warter Road Plantation and Bratt Wood bring welcome shade and the chance of spotting woodland birds among the mixed trees.
With modest ascent of under 100 metres and easy going throughout, it is a route well suited to a relaxed morning or afternoon, finishing in the quiet Wolds village of Nunburnholme.
