The Paddock Cottage Walk is a short circular route in Cheshire East, covering 2.6 km with a modest 109 m of ascent. Setting off from The Kiosk, the path climbs steadily through the wider Lyme parkland, offering the kind of easy legwork that rewards you quickly with views over the estate and the plains beyond.
The route threads through Pursefield Wood, a pocket of estate woodland that provides shade and shelter before opening out towards Paddock Cottage itself, a distinctive building perched on the higher ground. From here you can look back across the parkland towards Lyme Hall, with landmarks such as The Knott and the Wellhead visible in the surrounding landscape.
The return leg loops back down through open pasture and estate paths, passing close to features like the Revetment Walls and, near the start and finish, the Chestnut Cottages and Estate Workshops. At around 45 minutes, it is an ideal short outing, easy enough for most walkers while still delivering a genuine taste of Lyme's historic parkland character.
