About this walk
The Newark Park Pink Trail is a short but characterful linear route through the wooded escarpment country on the southern edge of the Cotswolds. Setting out from Ozleworth, the path descends into a quiet fold of the hills, with the murmur of Ozleworth Brook never far away and glimpses of Clay's Wood and Barnhill Covert through the trees.
The trail passes a small Folly perched to take in the view, before curving round to the East Garden with its ornamental planting and long prospects over the surrounding valley. Although only 2.5 km in length, the walk packs in a steady 170 m of ascent, so expect a proper pull up through the woods in places.
Nearby, walkers with time to spare can extend their visit towards Blackquarries Hill Long Barrow or drop further down into Muscovy Bottom, both of which give a fine sense of the secluded combes that thread this corner of Gloucestershire. Allow around 45 minutes for the trail itself, plus time to linger in the garden.
